Over the years this blog has been a haven for my ramblings and fledging photos. Yes, I've floundered. I've dabbled in my own musings and sharing those of others; I've often wavered between sharing my own images and the images of photographers far more proficient. But as I've struggled to find my voice in this virtual world, there is one voice that stuck: yours. Thank you, sweet readers, for the encouragement over the years as I've grown up and into, what I feel is, my corner of this world wide web. Today, I'm moving my blog over to Tumblr and toward a consistency that I haven't found with this blog. It will be, scarily enough, all of my words and all of my photos that I share. I hope you'll visit me there.

And years from now when my daughter asks me about her father, I won't demonize him, I won't bad mouth him, and I won't explain to her the whole truth, about how easily he walked away from the both of us. Yesterday, I drove to the NC coast to go beach camping with friends.

I brought nothing but the bare essentials, slept in a wet, sandy sleeping bag, got sunburnt, swam from our side of the sound to neighboring Masonboro island with the friends, got freaked out by jellyfish on Masonboro and fit three grown a** women in one kayak to get back (and because we were too top heavy, paddled all the way back, backwards), had biggest splash contests with the coolest seven year old little girl, ate my weight in s'mores and Cheez-Its, drank beer from a Foothills keg and my coffee black with honey bourbon the morning after night kayaking with my sweet friend, the water slick as glass, the stars hanging low in the sky, thick and clustered like blackberries waiting for harvest.
